The total receipts of local authorities from differential rents in 1981 and 1982 were £24.3 million and £30.5 million respectively. Receipts for 1983 are estimated at £31 million. At this stage it is not practicable to give a reliable estimate of the level of receipts in 1984. A breakdown of estimated receipts for each local authority area for 1983 is not yet available. The rental receipts of each housing authority for the years 1981 and 1982 are set out in the following table.
