Vol. 346 No. 4

Housing Bill, 1983: Order for Second Stage.

Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Housing Acts, 1966 to 1979.

I move that the Second Stage be ordered for Tuesday, 6 December 1983.

Is it the intention in this Bill to provide for homeless people as defined in the Bill that was before the Seanad recently?

The purpose of this Bill is to make provision for the Buncrana decision regarding the provision by county councils of accommodation for people from outside their jurisdictions. The Bill will not cover the wide ambit that was covered in the Bill in the Seanad.

It is merely another piece of fire-brigade action with no concern being shown for the real problems.

Question put and agreed to.
