Vol. 346 No. 4

Written Answers. - Cheshire Homes.

367.

asked the Minister for Health his Department's policy in relation to grant aiding (a) existing and (b) new Cheshire Homes.

In the case of all except two Dublin Cheshire Homes, Exchequer assistance in respect of the running costs of existing Cheshire Homes is provided by means of approved capitation rates payable by health boards, supplemented, as appropriate, by special grants from my Department. Two Dublin Cheshire Homes are funded by means of monthly grants payable by the health board related to approved expenditure levels.

As regards new Cheshire Homes, the question of financial assistance from State funds is a matter for consideration by the health board concerned.
