Vol. 346 No. 8

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

25.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a widow's pension book will be restored to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

The person concerned was awarded a widow's non-contributory pension from my Department following the death of her husband on 31 March 1983. In the meantime she was also awarded a contributory British widow's pension of £34.20 sterling and as this exceeded the statutory means limit for entitlement to the Irish pension the latter pension was terminated with effect from 11 November 1983. The claimant was notified of this decision on 15 November last and of her right, if dissatisfied, to appeal against it.
