Vol. 346 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payment.

335.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a final home improvement inspection will take place and a house improvement grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

Grant approval will issue in this case on receipt of evidence of planning permission for the work which was requested from the applicant by my Department on 2 April 1982.

336.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of rural cottages built by each local authority in 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983 to date; and the plans for rural cottages in each county in 1984.

Under existing procedures, the planning and initiation of rural cottages, is a matter for each individual housing authority. The following tabular statements set out:

(a) the figures for rural cottage completions, broken down on a county basis, for the years 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982 and to 31 October 1983 — the latest date for which information is available. The figures are compiled from returns by housing authorities submitted to my Department.

and

(b) the position at 31 October 1983 in relation to the numbers of rural cottages at tender stage by each county council. These figures will mainly determine the number to be provided in 1984.

asked the Minister for the Environment when certificates of reasonable value will be issued to a firm (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, as the application has been made and additional information forwarded as requested to his Department.

Certificates of reasonable value issued to this firm on 6 December 1983.

338.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare.

The grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied by the applicants. A request for this inspection has not yet been received from the person named.

339.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons a mortgage subsidy has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and the date on which it will be paid.

The first two instalments of the mortgage subsidy have been paid to this person. Payment of the third instalment will be made when the applicant submits the claim form duly certified by his lending agency.

340.

asked the Minister for the Environment his plans for future housing in Ballinascarthy, County Cork.

There are no proposals at present in my Department from Cork County Council for a local authority housing scheme at Ballinascarthy. I understand from Cork (West) County Council that the provision of a scheme of houses in this area is currently under consideration.

341.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the payment of a £1,000 new house grant and the sanction of a provisional allocation of a mortgage subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The grant has been paid in this case.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a mortgage subsidy from the person named. An application form has now been forwarded to him for completion.
