asked the Minister for Labour if, in view of recent Government commitments, he is making an increased grant available towards Irish emigration services in 1984.

The 1984 grant for the Committee on Welfare Services Abroad is shown in the Book of Estimates which is being laid before the House of the Oireachtas.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will ensure that the Office of Public Works will transport rock from nearby Carne as a means of protecting Rosslare Strand village, County Wexford, which is in imminent danger of being eroded completely; if he will ensure that coast protection work in the area will be escalated in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Commissioners of Public Works are satisfied that the positioning of rock on the beach in the vicinity of Rosslare Strand village would serve no useful purpose. The commissioners have received a proposal under the Coast Protection Act, 1963 for a capital scheme of protection works at Rosslare Strand. The statutory preliminary examination of this proposal is being undertaken. Meanwhile, the existing protection works at Rosslare Strand are being maintained, on an ongoing basis, by the commissioners.
