Vol. 347 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Water and Sewerage Schemes.

11.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the contract documents submitted by Donegal County Council in April 1979 concerning the extension to the Corcullion-Castlefin sewerage scheme, County Donegal, have not yet been sanctioned.

12.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction immediately the Castlefin sewerage scheme (extension to Corcullion), County Donegal.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 11 and 12 together.

The contract documents submitted by Donegal County Council for a scheme to extend sewerage services from Castlefin to Corcullion are under consideration in my Department.

Having regard to the need to conserve available capital for major water and sewerage schemes of the highest priority in progress or getting to construction at the present time for which adequate finance must be provided, including a large number of schemes in County Donegal, I regret that I am not at present in a position to say when I will be able to convey approval to Donegal County Council's proposals for this sewerage extension.

13.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction a tender for the East Inishowen water supply scheme (section A) which was submitted to his Department for approval on 15 December 1983 by Donegal County Council.

Proposals for the acceptance of a tender for the East Inishowen water supply scheme, section A, are at present under technical examination in my Department.

14.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction a tender for Clonmany-Ballyliffen water supply augmentation which was submitted to his Department on 15 December 1983 by Donegal County Council.

Tenders for the civil works contract of the Clonmany-Ballyliffen water supply augmentation scheme are under examination in my Department. I hope to convey a decision on the tenders to the local authority at an early date.

15.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction a tender for Buncrana and environs water supply (Stage L) (Utilising source of No. 11 as interim measure) which was submitted to his Department on 15 December 1983 by Donegal County Council.

Donegal County Council's recommendation for the acceptance of a tender for the West Inishowen regional water supply scheme extension to Buncrana and environs which was submitted to my Department on 15 December 1983 is under technical examination at present. I hope to convey a decision on the tenders to the local authority at an early date.

16.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction the revised contract documents sent to his Department by Donegal County Council on 13 May 1983 in connection with the trunk main Stranorlar to Rooskey and extension to Milltown (Lough Mourne regional water supply).

Donegal County Council were requested on 11 April 1983 and on 16 December 1983 to submit a certificate that all necessary planning for this scheme has been completed. The submission of this certificate, which is necessary to enable me to give further consideration to proposals for the scheme, is awaited. In the circumstances I cannot say when it will be possible to issue a decision on the contract documents.

If the certificate is furnished to the Minister in the very near future will he then sanction it?

When the certificate arrives I will give it every consideration.

17.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction the preliminary report submitted by Donegal County Council on 14 April 1982 in connection with the Milford-Ray Phase 1 water supply scheme.

18.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction the preliminary report submitted by Donegal County Council on 28 June 1983 in connection with the Milford-Kerrykeel water supply scheme Stage II.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 17 and 18 together.

Preliminary proposals for the Milford water supply scheme, which will incorporate the proposals referred to by the Deputy, have been submitted to my Department by Donegal County Council and are under technical examination at present. I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to issue a decision thereon to the local authority.
