Vol. 347 No. 6

Written Answers. - Child's Liver Transplant Operation.

246.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the plight of a young child (details supplied) in Dublin 12, who is in urgent need of a liver transplant which would be carried out in the United States and which would cost £100,000; if his Department will assist in financing this operation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This is a matter for consideration in the first instance by the Eastern Health Board. I am aware that the health board are at present considering a request for financial assistance in relation to this case. I will, of course, give sympathetic consideration to any proposals the health board may put to me on this matter.
