As indicated in my reply to Questions Nos. 699 and 700 on 24 May 1983, the Office of Public Works had made a full report to the Department of Education on the replacement of the roof and other works at Clonbur national school, County Galway. Subsequently, the Department of Education informed the Office of Public Works that the manager of the school wished to have a new school erected in preference to improvements to the existing building and had offered a site. The matter has now been fully considered and the Department of Education have been advised that the best course would be to erect a new school and that a number of other sites be investigated by the manager in the first instance.
