Vol. 347 No. 7

Written Answers. - Land Commission Holdings.

304.

asked the Minister for Agriculture (i) the acreage and location of all lands held by the Land Commission; (ii) the number of years such lands are held; (iii) the number of acres and the location of lands acquired by the Land Commission in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983; (iv) the number of divisions carried out in that period and the acreage involved; (v) the amount of money made available for the acquisition and division of land in 1981, 1982 and 1983; and (vi) the amount of money currently available under the 1984 Estimates for similar purposes.

Land Commission records are not kept in such a form as to make the information requested at (i), (ii) and (iii) readily available and the significant expenditure of time and labour required to ascertain it could not be justified.

The information requested at (iv) and (v) is set out in the following tables. As regards (vi), in addition to the sum of £1 million provided in the Estimate, land bonds will be made available to the extent required.
