Vol. 347 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Dublin Water Pressure.

295.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the serious water pressure problem that exists in the homes of persons (details supplied) in County Dublin; the action he intends to take; and if the will make a statement on the matter.

I have had inquiries made of Dún Laoghaire Corporation, the local authority with responsibility for the water supply. The corporation have indicated that they are aware of the problem of weak water pressure in the area concerned and that they have been carrying out waste water investigations. As a result the corporation hope to reduce leakage and waste and thus improve the supply.

In the longer term an improved supply to the area will result on completion of Contract No. 7 of the Liffey Aqueduct Duplication Scheme which is expected to be completed towards the latter part of 1984. This scheme will augment the inflow of water to the Stillorgan reservoir which feeds the area in question.
