Vol. 347 No. 13

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Private Members' Business will be No. 14.

Can the Taoiseach indicate when legislation extending the postal vote to disabled people will be introduced?

The question of legislation in respect of postal voting is under consideration by the Government at present. The content of that legislation and to whom it might apply have to be considered before being put into legislative form.

In passing I should like to say I do not think that arose properly on the Order of Business under the heading of legislation promised.

Could I explain? The Minister for the Environment promised to bring in such legislation on 25 January of this year.

If that is so, the Deputy was in order. I wanted to make it clear that there was no change in the Chair's ruling.

Could I ask the Taoiseach whether it is proposed to provide time for a discussion on the report of the Economic and Social Committee of the EEC on Border Counties which was announced yesterday?

That does not arise.

That is a matter to be taken up with the Whips.

The Taoiseach promised that we would have legislation before the House on the Hours of Work Bill in the last session. When is it now expected that that Bill will be before the House?

In the near future.

What does that mean? This term?

The Taoiseach promised to have it before the House in the last session. Why was that promise not fulfiled?

Further consultation was required.

We cannot have cross-examination.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the reply by the Minister for Labour to Question No. 502 on yesterday's Order Paper.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

I should like to raise on the Adjournment the severe losses suffered by the sheep farmers in the Galtee mountains in South Tipperary.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I should like to raise on the Adjournment the question of the risk to our national treasures because of lack of space and lack of attention to them in the National Museum.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

I should like to raise on the Adjournment the question of the development of Greencastle fishing port.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.
