Vol. 347 No. 13

Written Answers. - Air Traffic Control Post.

346.

asked the Minister for the Public Service if he will review the terms of reference for the competition for air traffic control assistant organised by the Civil Service Commission under which a suitably qualified person (details supplied) in County Dublin is ruled out on grounds of an age regulation.

The regulations for this competition provided for candidates to be under 20 years of age on 1 February 1984. The candidate whom the Deputy has in mind was over that age on the date and is therefore ineligible.

The regulations were made under statute and the closing date for the receipt of applications has passed. It would not therefore be possible to change them at this stage of the competition or to allow exceptions from them for particular individuals.
