Vol. 480 No. 6

Written Answers - County Tipperary Music School.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

425 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if funding will be provided for a music school in Clonmel, County Tipperary; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14530/97]

Some 147 proposals involving requests for assistance amounting to £ 61.7 million were received under Phase II of the Cultural Development Incentives Scheme, including an application in respect of the development of a music school in Clonmel, County Tipperary. A total of £ 4,912 million was available for allocation to projects. The promoters of the Clonmel music school project, Tipperary South Riding County Council, were informed on 25 June 1997 following completion of the evaluation procedure that the application had not been successful. In these circumstances I am not in a position to provide funding for this project.
