asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in paying headage payments for 1977 to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.
Written Answers. - Headage Payments.

The person named and his son applied separately for cattle headage grants in 1977 but an inspection revealed evidence of intermixing and so the two herds were amalgamated for grant purposes in accordance with the terms and conditions of the relevant Scheme. In June 1978 a payable order for £370, the maximum grant at that time, was issued in the joint names of the applicants but this was not accepted and was returned uncashed to the Department. Legal proceedings were then commenced by the applicants but these were not pursued. The case was recently reopened and a new payable order was issued earlier this month in the joint names of the applicants.
