Vol. 348 No. 3

Written Answers. - Connemara Bridge.

369.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the dangerous condition of the Inishnee bridge, Roundstone, County Galway; and if so, the action he proposes to take in the matter.

I understand from Galway County Council that this bridge does not form part of the public road network and accordingly the council, as road authority, do not bear responsibility for any necessary remedial works. The council have powers under the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Act, 1964, in relation to dangerous structures. The question of invoking these powers would be a matter for the council acting as sanitary authority for the area.
