Vol. 348 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Galway Traffic By-Laws.

404.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a decision will be made on the application for traffic and parking by-laws submitted for County Galway by the Garda Commissioner; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Consultations with the Garda authorities in this matter are now nearing finality. I expect that the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána will submit shortly for my approval revised traffic and parking measures, modelled on the Cork Traffic and Parking Temporary Rules, 1984, for a number of counties, including County Galway. In that event, I will approve the revised measures without delay.

405.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in approving Clarinbridge speed limit proposals forwarded by Galway County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

No such proposals have been submitted to me. I understand, however, that Galway County Council intend to submit proposals for the revision of speed limits in the county generally, including Clarinbridge, in the near future. When these proposals are received I will have them examined by my Department with a view to making revised speed limit regulations for County Galway.
