Vol. 348 No. 9

Written Answers. - Farm Modernisation Scheme.

395.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a drainage project for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford under the Farm Modernisation Scheme will be allowed to proceed at the earliest possible date.

An approval for a scheme of work will be issued shortly in this case.

396.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that land drainage projects are being held up under the Farm Modernisation Scheme by virtue of the fact that specification plans are not being let out by the local land project office for the last three to five weeks; when this matter will be resolved; and if it will be given due urgency in view of the fact that drainage works have to be compdeted before the sowing season.

The issue of approval for a scheme of work to farmers in the commercial category of the Farm Modernisation Scheme had been deferred in some cases pending the introduction of the interest subsidy scheme for these farmers. I have arranged that any commercial farmer who wishes to proceed with a scheme of work should have his application processed and approval issued.
