Proposals to apply the national rent collector salary scale to rent collectors employed by Drogheda Corporation and Dundalk Urban District Council were submitted to my Department in 1981. The local authorities were informed at that time that any such proposal would have to be considered in the light of the workload of the officers concerned but that in any event current Government pay policy precluded concession of the increase involved.
Drogheda Corporation have raised the matter again recently, I expect to issue a decision on this proposal shortly. I have had no further communication from Dundalk Urban District Council in the matter.
