Vol. 348 No. 10

Written Answers - OIE Board.

365.

asked the Minister for Labour if, in view of the manifest lack of information available to the employees of Ostlanna Éireann, he will make provision for the election of worker directors to the proposed reconstituted board of OIE; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the Worker Participation (State Enterprises) Act, 1977, employee directors may be appointed following an election process to the boards of seven designated State enterprises. Ostlanna Iompair Éireann is not one of the designated enterprises. However, this Act is under review at present with a view to introducing amending legislation and the question of making statutory provision for the election of worker directors to the board of OIE will be considered in this context. I will shortly be appointing a new board of OIE and propose to include trade unionists among the directors.
