asked the Minister for Communications if it is proposed to commemorate the centenary of the Gaelic Athletic Association by the issue of a suitable postage stamp; and, if so, if he proposes to have a competition for its design.
Written Answers. - Commemorative Stamp.

The stamp programme for each year is approved about 12 months in advance and I am happy to say that the Government approved the issuing of a commemorative stamp this year to mark the centenary of the GAA. Following the decision my Department (then Posts and Telegraphs) in keeping with normal practice commissioned an artist directly to design the stamp. Responsibility for stamp design is, since January 1st last, being discharged on my behalf by An Post who are now completing the arrangements for the issue of the stamps.
