It is not part of my responsibility as Minister for Communications to protect illegal radio stations. It is this Government's policy to phase out illegal radio stations as we phase in legal ones and legislation for this purpose is expected to be enacted before the summer recess.
There are always ongoing discussions on many matters between my Department and RTE and the nature and the effect of the tests being carried out by RTE are among the matters still under discussion.
