Vol. 349 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Waste Disposal Centre.

466.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will have a copy of the report by the Danish firm of consultants in relation to the provision of a national waste disposal centre laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas.

467.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is proposed to apply for planning permission for the provision of a national waste disposal centre at Baldonnel, County Dublin.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 466 and 467 together.

The preliminary report by the Danish consultants in relation to the provision of a national waste disposal centre includes a considerable amount of confidential information furnished to the consultants by particular industries. It would not be proper to lay a report of this kind before the Houses of the Oireachtas. However, instructions have now been given to the consultants to advise on the design of the facility and to prepare the appropriate documentation to support a planning application. It is hoped that the application will be lodged with Dublin County Council this autumn. At that stage, it is my intention that all of the information which could reasonably be required to enable interests concerned to assess the proposal will be made available.
