Vol. 349 No. 10

Written Answers. - Pig Production Grants.

544.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will outline in detail the special grants, subsidies, etc., available to pig farmers in other EEC member states; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under EEC Directive 72/159 on the modernisation of farms, aid may be granted in all member states of the Community for investment in pig production but, with some exceptions, only for that volume of investment necessary to obtain 550 pig places per farm. Detailed up to date information as to how far such aid is being granted in the various member states is not available in my Department.
