Vol. 350 No. 2

Written Answers. - Petrol Price.

110.

andMr. Molony asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism if he will elaborate on his recent refusal to accede to the request of the major oil companies for an increase of 8p per gallon of petrol.

The price increases averaging 1p per gallon for petrol and slightly over 2p per gallon for gas oils and fuel oils, which I approved on 6 January 1984 were based on a recommendation of the National Prices Commission. The factors taken into account by the commission, in arriving at their recommendation, are outlined in their monthly report for December 1983. This report has been circulated to Deputies and is also available in the Dáil Library.
