Vol. 350 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Galway Electricity Connection.

529.

asked the Minister for Energy the reason an application for assistance towards the cost of electricity connection was refused to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Article 4 of Regulation No. (EEC) 1820/80, which governs this scheme, provides that, in order to qualify for grant aid, an applicant must be principally dependent on agriculture for his income. In his application the person concerned indicated that his principal source of income was not from agriculture and, as he did not, therefore, fulfil the requirement of Article 4, the application for grant assistance had to be turned down.

Electricity supply can, however, be extended to the premises by the ESB under normal terms, details of which are available at the local ESB office.
