Vol. 350 No. 4

Written Answers. - Laytown (Meath) Garda Strength.

682.

asked the Minister for Justice if it is his intention to reduce the number of gardaí stationed at Laytown, County Meath; and if any reductions in the numbers have taken place in the recent past.

Limerick East): The detailed deployment of Garda manpower is a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that there is no proposal at present to reduce Garda strength at Laytown station, and that there has been no change in the strength of the station party there since January 1983 when a vacancy for a garda was filled bringing the strength to one sergeant and four gardaí. The question of assigning additional gardaí to Laytown station during the summer season will be considered by the local divisional officer in the light of available resources and other demands on Garda services in the Louth/Meath Garda Division.
