Vol. 350 No. 8

Written Answers. - House Grant and Mortgage Subsidy.

526.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant and a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Cree, County Clare.

This application for a grant was rejected because the floor area of the house exceeds the maximum area allowable for grant purposes of 125 sq. m. (1346 sq. ft.). However, revised plans were received recently from the applicant and his file has again been referred to my Department's inspector for re-investigation and report.

A mortgage subsidy cannot be paid to the person named as he is not eligible under the scheme. He is a single person who commenced his house and executed his mortgage deed between 23 July 1981 and 24 March 1982 when the mortgage subsidy was restricted to married persons and persons about to marry.
