Vol. 350 No. 8

Written Answers. - Clondalkin (Dublin) Parking.

625.

asked the Minister for Justice the steps that are being taken by the Superintendent in charge of the Garda station at Ballyfermot to secure enforcement of the road traffic law at New Nangor Road, Clondalkin, County Dublin as evidenced by the illegal and dangerous parking of caravans, vans and cars on this road; if he will arrange with the local gardaí to have vehicles permanently and unlawfully parked on this road dealt with in accordance with the road traffic legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick East): I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the area in question, which is within the sub-district of Clondalkin, has been receiving attention from Garda personnel attached to Clondalkin station.

I have been further informed that a very recent check disclosed that on the entire length of New Nangor Road only two vehicles were parked, neither of which was parked illegally. When a later check was made, no vehicles were parked anywhere on the length of roadway. The checks in question arose from general complaints in connection with the presence of itinerants in the area. The Garda will continue to give attention to the matters that have been the subject of complaint.
