asked the Minister for Labour where and how the youth employment levy is spent.

The purpose of the youth employment levy, as set out in the Youth Employment Agency Act, 1981, is to defray the expenditure of the youth employment agency and other expenditure in relation to the training and employment of young persons. The expenditure in question in 1982 and 1983, together with estimated expenditure in 1984, is set out in the following statement:
