I have received a request from the Western Health Board for funds to enable the Home for the Aged at Clonbur, County Galway, to be opened. Because of the present constraints on the finances of the health services I have no choice but to confine health boards to their present allowances. It is therefore a matter for the Western Health Board to decide whether the opening of this home could be financed within their allocation and having regard to Government policy regarding staffing numbers.
