Vol. 352 No. 5

Written Answers. - Economic Development Plan.

134.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Government propose to publish a plan for economic development; if so, when it will be published, and the broad priorities of any such plan.

The Government are at present considering the "Proposals for Plan 1984-87", published by the National Planning Board on 26 April. Following consideration of the planning board's report and appropriate consultations with the social partners the Government will produce a national plan. It would be premature at this stage to identify a publication date but I would hope that the national plan could be published in early autumn. The broad priorities of this plan will be to increase sustainable employment and to restore balance to the public finances.
