Vol. 352 No. 8

Written Answers. - Manpower Planning Committee Report.

478.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on the report of the Manpower Planning Committee on the personal social services with special reference to the reasons for the delay in publication and action upon its findings.

The committee was established to advise the Minister on a number of manpower planning problems with particular regard to social workers and child care workers. The advice tendered by the committee, although based on an assumption of continuing growth in the services, has proved valuable to the Department in formulating future policy on manpower and training. No commitment was given to publish the committee's report and I do not see any value in publishing it at this stage.

Question No. 479 withdrawn.
