Vol. 352 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

344.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford whose building has been inspected and passed.

This application has been cancelled as the Department's inspector reported in July 1984 that the applicant was not proceeding with the work for which the grant was approved.

345.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

As the relevant application related to a house which was, in fact, demolished, approval of a grant under the house improvement grant scheme did not arise. The applicant was written to in the case on 29 August 1984.

346.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to allocate further money for the building of new council cottages to Kerry County Council in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter, in view of the large number of applications on hand and also in view of the number of sites transferred.

An application from Kerry County Council for an additional allocation of capital for their local authority housing programme is being examined in my Department. Recently, an official from my Department visited the council's office in order to discuss their housing programme. Following this a review of the county council's capital position is being undertaken. This examination is almost completed, and I hope to be in a position to communicate with the housing authority in the near future.
