The pupils in question are not attending their nearest schools and my Department is therefore precluded, under the terms of the free school transport scheme, from granting them free transport facilities to those schools. The Department would be prepared, however, as an exceptional matter, to allow them concessionary fare-paying facilities to those schools, subject to the schools authorities of their nearest schools having no objection.
