Vol. 353 No. 6

Written Answers. - Measles Immunisation Scheme.

591.

asked the Minister for Health when it is proposed to introduce the measles immunisation scheme; by whom it will be administered; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The measles immunisation programme is scheduled to commence in early 1985. The programme will be implemented by the directors of community care and medical officers of health, in conjunction with appropriate health professionals and it is envisaged at this stage that the vaccine will be administered through public health clinics and general practitioners.

The Department of Health is currently planning the programme in consultation with appropriate groups, including the Irish Medical Organisation with whom the involvement of general practitioners in the programme is being examined.
