Vol. 353 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Schools.

asked the Minister for Education if funds can be made available and approved to provide landscaping around the area of the Brookfield primary school, Tallaght, County Dublin.

There are no special proposals currently with my Department for consideration for the provision of landscaping around the area of the Brookfield Primary School, Tallaght, County Dublin. It is understood from the Commissioners of Public Works, through whom arrangements for the placing of the contract for the construction of the school building at Brookfield were made, that the provision in regard to landscaping is that the contractor should grass and level all areas not to be covered by tarmac. It would be a matter for the school authorities themselves to make at local expense any further provision which they feel may be desirable.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding a primary school (details supplied) in County Meath; when plans will be finalised; and when these will go to tender.

My Department have sanctioned a grant towards the cost of extending the primary school in question and have referred the matter to the Commissioners of Public Works for the required detail design work. It is understood from the commissioners that working drawings have been completed and that the next stage will be preparation of the bills of quantities. When this documentation has been completed, the question of inviting tenders for the extension will be considered.
