Vol. 353 No. 9

Written Answers. - Enterprise Allowance Scheme.

818.

asked the Minister for Labour if a decision has issued following my representations that an application for assistance under the Enterprise Allowance Scheme which was disallowed be reconsidered for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 5.

In order to be eligible for participation in the enterprise allowance scheme a person must be on the live register and in receipt of unemployment benefits or assistance for at least 13 consecutive weeks. A person who, immediately preceding entry to the scheme had been attending an approved training course prior to or following a period on the live register during which they were in receipt of unemployment benefit-assistance may be admitted to the scheme, provided that the two periods together make up at least 13 consecutive weeks.

The person named did not meet the eligibility conditions. Decisions on eligibility for unemployment assistance or benefit, are of course, matters for the Department of Social Welfare.
