Vol. 353 No. 9

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

644.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant of only £216 has been approved for a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary as this grant only related to external plastering of back annexe whereas in fact he had to provide a water supply, sewerage facilities and a bathroom; the reason the inspector formed the opinion that these facilities already existed when they did not; and if he will reconsider the allocation of the grant and if he will increase it.

It is a statutory condition of eligibility under the house improvement grants scheme that work must not commence prior to an inspection of the house. The provision of water, sewerage and bathroom facilities had been completed in this case prior to such inspection. In the circumstances it is not proposed to revise the amount of the grant already approved.
