Vol. 354 No. 1

Written Answers. - Housing Scheme.

607.

andMr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment if he will state in respect of the proposed local authority housing scheme to construct 59 houses at Deans Curragh, Longford: (1) the date the tender was approved; (2) whether the proposed contractor is capable of proceeding with the schemes; and (3) when a final decision will be made in view of the urgent housing needs of approved applicants in the areas.

The information requested by the Deputies is not available in my Department as this is a devolved housing scheme. Under existing procedures, the evaluation and consideration of tenders for devolved housing schemes and the acceptance of a particular tender are matters for the local authority concerned. My role in the matter is to approve a unit cost for the particular scheme based on a recommended tender, and in this case I approved the unit cost of 25 September 1984.
