Vol. 354 No. 6

Written Answers. - AnCO Training Courses.

630.

asked the Minister for Labour the percentage of students who successfully completed AnCO training courses who were placed in employment in the immediate aftermath of such a course.

The latest placement figures available are in respect of trainees and apprentices who successfully completed AnCO courses in the period 1 January 1984 to 26 October 1984. The percentage of these trainees and apprentices placed up to 26 October 1984 was 49 per cent. This includes a percentage placement rate of 62 per cent in respect of employable skills courses (mainline and apprentice courses) and a percentage placement rate of 29 per cent in respect of social skills courses (induction, community youth training programme and workshop courses).

Placement is an important measure of the effectiveness of employable skills courses. However, social skills courses are more generally regarded as a preparation for mainline courses.
