Vol. 354 No. 11

Written Answers. - Housing Applications.

597.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of applications for housing received by each local housing authority and the outstanding numbers approved for housing allocation under the categories of letting priorities, including single parent families and elderly persons, for the year ending 1 October 1984.

598.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to include data about the numbers of housing applications received and approvals issued for housing allocation under the categories for letting priorities for each local housing authority area in future issues of his Department's quarterly bulletin of housing statistics.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 597 and 598 together.

Statistics on the number of approved housing applications that local authorities have on hands, the number of dwellings let by them and the categories of persons to whom they are let are compiled by my Department at the end of each year. The returns for 1984 will be sought shortly. The position regarding the 1983 return is set out in the following tabular statement. I intend in future annual bulletins to expand the information published.
