Written Answers. - Income Tax Rebates.

355.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will correct a tax error with a view to paying a full rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

): I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that an amended certificate of tax-free allowances was issued in this case on 14 January 1985. Any tax which may have been over-deducted from the taxpayer's earnings since 6 April last will be refundable by his employer when that certificate is put into operation. The inspector of taxes wrote to the taxpayer on 16 January 1985 for the details required to review his 1983-84 liability.

356.

asked the Minister for Finance when he will pay a tax rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

): I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that in the absence of a completed return of income by the taxpayer a refund of tax, which had been deducted from construction payments made to him by principal contractors, was made to him on a provisional basis on 12 December 1984.

The taxpayer advised the inspector on 9 January 1985 that he had resumed employment. On 11 January he submitted further details concerning his employment position to the tax office. His tax position will now be further examined and any additional refund found due will be made to him as quickly as possible.
