Written Answers. - Income Tax.

359.

asked the Minister for Finance if new house grants and mortgage subsidy payments are regarded as income for income tax purposes by the Revenue Commissioners.

): The answer is in the negative.

360.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax refund will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and the reason for the delay.

): I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer ceased employment on 12 October 1984 and submitted a claim to repayment of tax to the inspector of taxes on 12 November. The inspector wrote to him on 22 November for certain additional information required to process the claim. On receipt of the relevant details the claim was dealt with and a cheque in settlement was issued on 10 January 1985.

The taxpayer submitted a second repayment claim on 3 January 1985. This claim was dealt with on 15 January and a cheque in settlement should reach him shortly.
