Vol. 355 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Donegal Syncrolift Installation.

378.

andMr. Coughlan asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he is aware of the urgency of having a syncrolift installed in the harbour in Killybegs, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

379.

andMr. Coughlan asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he is aware of the allegations by the chairman of the Killybegs Fishermen's Association that £1 million provided in the 1983 and 1984 Estimates for the provision of a syncrolift at Killybegs was not spent; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 378 and 379 together.

The provision of a syncrolift at Killybegs is an urgent priority in my Department. While some funds were available in 1983 and 1984 towards the cost of the provision of the syncrolift it was not possible for technical and other reasons to commence the work during those years.
