Vol. 355 No. 7

Written Answers. - Army Pension.

438.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will continue the payment of a special allowance to an eighty-five year old veteran (details supplied) of the War of Independence, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

One of the statutory conditions for the grant of a special allowance under the Army Pensions Acts is that the yearly means of an applicant do not equal or exceed the appropriate annual sum. The case of the person referred to in the question was recently investigated and as his yearly means exceed the appropriate annual sum he is not eligible for a further grant of special allowance.
