No statistics are available regarding the number or value of hurleys sold in Ireland in 1983 or 1984 from which reliable estimates of the appropriate VAT collected can be established. The Deputy will be aware that hurleys are among the goods on which the rate of VAT is being reduced to 23 per cent from 1 March next.
