asked the Minister for Justice if he will indicate, in respect of each of the last five years, the number of prosecutions against owners of licensed premises for selling alcoholic drink to teenagers under 18 years of age.

, Limerick East): In the years 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983 the numbers of offences for illegally selling intoxicating liquor to persons under 18 years of age in respect of which prosecutions were taken were 39, 90, 41, 24 and 35 respectively.

Statistics for 1984 are not yet available.
