Vol. 355 No. 10

Written Answers. - Court Delays.

645.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the delays caused recently as a result of the lack of a Court Registrar; if he will ensure that the courts are sufficiently staffed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

, Limerick East): I am aware that delays arose recently in one area of the High Court, i.e., the Chancery Division, as a result of a vacancy in one of the posts of Registrar in the Central Office of the High Court which was affected by the Government embargo on the filling of two out of every three vacancies. Steps have been taken to rectify the matter by the appointment of a registrar for the court in question which is now operating normally.
