Vol. 355 No. 10

Written Answers. - Prize Bonds.

491.

asked the Minister for Finance if prize bonds purchased by a relative, such as that purchased by a son for his parents and in their name, are valid.

Under the terms of the prospectus governing the issue of prize bonds an application form for a prize bond must be signed by the person who is to be registered as the holder of the bond. In the case of joint application the form must be signed by both applicants. This requirement is essential in order to avoid costly disputes about ownership of bonds and entilement to prizes. If, therefore, a son desires to purchase a prize bond for his parents in their names he will need to secure their signatures on the application form to have the bond registered in their names for the purpose of a prize under prize bond draws.
